She was the senior editor of 'The Collected Letters of Thomas and Jane Welsh Carlyle' and published extensively on Scottish women's writing, including a study of Willa Muir. Christianson was involved with Rape Crisis Scotland and received recognition from the Saltire Society for her contributions to Scottish literature and the arts.
