Ahmad Shamsul Islam (born August 6, 1924) is a Bangladeshi scientist and educator. He is the founder of the Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory and the Bangladesh Association of Plant Tissue Culture and Biotechnology (BAPTCB). Islam has hybridized two varieties of jute, Tosha and Deshi. He was awarded the Ekushey Padak, the highest civilian award in Bangladesh, in 1987 for his contributions to education and research.
