Agathangel, born Mikhail Ivanovich Pashkovski, was a bishop managing the diocese of Odessa and Crimea, overseeing parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia in Ukraine, Belarus, and Moldova. Following the signing of the Canonical Communion Act between ROCOR and the Moscow Patriarchate, Agathangel left ROCOR's jurisdiction to lead a new entity, the Provisional Supreme Ecclesiastical Authority. He was suspended in 2007 by the ROCOR Synod for defiance and inciting schism, and in 2009 he was banned from ministry by the Synod of Bishops.
