Afet İnan (October 30, 1908 - June 8, 1985) was a Turkish historian and sociologist known for her contributions to physical anthropology. As one of the eight adopted daughters of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, she undertook extensive research measuring over sixty thousand skulls in Anatolia to support her thesis on Turkish history. Her work aimed to establish a scientific basis for Turkish identity and history through anthropological studies.
