Aaron Esterson was a British psychiatrist known for his role in founding the Philadelphia Association alongside R. D. Laing. Born in Glasgow in 1923, he served in the Royal Navy during WWII. After earning his M.D. in 1951 from Glasgow University, he practiced as a general practitioner before transitioning to psychiatry in 1954. Esterson worked in British mental hospitals and psychiatric units before establishing a private practice in 1962 as an existential psychoanalyst and family therapist.
