Commander Alwyn Thomas Lavender Covey-Crump was a British Royal Navy officer known for his role as an assistant to the Chief of Naval Information in the mid-20th century. He compiled a record of naval slang, famously known as 'Jack-speak', with the first edition published on May 17, 1955. His work contributed to the integration of the term 'Covey-Crump' into Royal Navy slang. Over his career, he served on various ships including HMS Vindictive and HMS Liverpool, from 1927 until 1945. He was the second son of Reverend Canon Walter William Covey-Crump.
