Born on August 6, 1915, in Melasivapuram, Pudukkottai district of Tamil Nadu, he established a substantial business group in the leather industry with both domestic and international presence. He was instrumental in the export of leather from India, eliminating middlemen, and was a key figure in promoting the export of manufactured leather goods at a time when semi-processed items dominated exports. He also played a significant role in establishing an annual leather fair in India.
