He is a prominent Russian philosopher specializing in social philosophy, philosophy of science, and philosophy of technology. Subetto is the creator of the concept of systems-genetic philosophy of science and technology. He earned a Candidate of Technical Sciences degree in 1973, a Doctor of Economic Sciences degree in 1990, and a Doctor of Philosophical Sciences degree in 1995. He is honored as an Emeritus Scientist of the RF and is a retired colonel, serving as an honorary professor at Novgorod State University.
