ʻImād Shīḥah, born on March 9, 1954, was a Syrian novelist and writer, as well as a former political prisoner. He is recognized as the longest-serving political prisoner in contemporary Syrian history and was the last member of the Arab Communist Organization to be released from imprisonment. His experiences and contributions to literature reflect a significant part of Syria's political history.
