Marrero, Louisiana, is a suburb of New Orleans located on the west bank of the Mississippi River, approximately 10 miles southwest of downtown New Orleans. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Marrero was founded in the early 19th century by French settlers and was named after Bartholomew Marrero, a local plantation owner. The city has a rich history and heritage, with many historic buildings and sites, including the Marrero Plantation House, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
