Coffeyville, Kansas, is a city located at 37.0373° N, 95.61637° W, in the south-central part of the state. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters. Coffeyville was founded in 1869 as a railroad town and named after James A. Coffey, a railroad executive. The city is home to Coffeyville Community College and is known for its rich history and heritage, including the Coffeyville bank robbery of 1924 and the Dalton Gang's attempted train robbery in 1892.
