Bohodukhiv is a city in the Kharkiv Oblast (province) of eastern Ukraine, located at the confluence of the Merla and Bohodukhivka rivers, 47 km from the oblast center, Kharkiv. The city has a population of approximately 15,000 people. The climate of Bohodukhiv is humid continental, with cold, snowy winters and warm, humid summers. The average temperature in January is -6.3 °C (20.7 °F), while the average temperature in July is 19.2 °C (66.6 °F). Bohodukhiv was founded in the 17th century as a Cossack settlement. It was granted city status in 1781. The city was an important center of trade and commerce in the 19th century. In the 20th century, Bohodukhiv was a major industrial center. The city is home to a number of historical and architectural monuments, including the Church of the Assumption (18th century), the Church of the Holy Trinity (19th century), and the Bohodukhiv City Hall (19th century).
