Zmiyev is a city in the Kharkiv Oblast (province) of eastern Ukraine, located on the left bank of the Siverskyi Donets River. The city has a humid continental climate, with warm summers and cold winters. Zmiyev was first mentioned in historical records in 1604, and it was granted city status in 1938. The city is home to a number of historical and cultural landmarks, including the Zmiyev Monastery, which was founded in the 17th century.
