Iğdır is a city in eastern Turkey, near the Armenian border. It is the capital of Iğdır Province. The city has a population of around 200,000 people. The city is located in a valley at the foot of Mount Ararat. The climate is continental, with hot summers and cold winters. Iğdır has a rich history, dating back to the Bronze Age. The city was once part of the Armenian Kingdom of Urartu. It was later conquered by the Persians, Greeks, Romans, and Arabs. In the 16th century, Iğdır became part of the Ottoman Empire. The city was ceded to Russia in 1828, but was returned to Turkey in 1921.
