Soyapango is a municipality in San Salvador, El Salvador, located in the eastern part of the metropolitan area of San Salvador. The city has a tropical savanna climate, with an average temperature of 24°C (75°F) and an average annual rainfall of 1,800 mm (71 in). Soyapango was founded in 1575 by Spanish conquistadors and was originally known as "San Juan Soyapango". The city is home to a number of historical and cultural landmarks, including the Church of San Juan Bautista, the Soyapango Archaeological Site, and the Soyapango Museum.
