Ivangorod, also known as Jaanilinn, is a town in Leningrad Oblast, Russia, situated on the left bank of the Narva River, opposite the Estonian town of Narva. The town has a humid continental climate with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. Ivangorod was founded in 1492 by Ivan III of Russia as a fortress to protect the Russian border from the Teutonic Knights.
