Mayrtup is a rural locality in the Groznensky District of Chechnya, Russia, located at an altitude of 106 meters (348 feet) above sea level. The climate in Mayrtup is humid subtropical, with an average annual temperature of 10.6 degrees Celsius (51 degrees Fahrenheit). The history of Mayrtup dates back to the 18th century, when it was a village of the Chechen Tukhum clan. The village was renamed Sulebkent in 1944, after the Chechen and Ingush people were deported to Central Asia. In 1957, the village was renamed Mayrtup, and it has remained so since then. The village is home to a number of historical and cultural landmarks, including the Mayrtup Tower, which was built in the 18th century.
