Sovetskoye, Kalmykiya, Russia is a small town located in the south of Russia, near the border with Kazakhstan. It has a population of around 10,000 people and is known for its warm, dry summers and cold, snowy winters. The town was founded in 1848 as a Cossack settlement and was originally known as Ketchener-Shebener. In 1935, it was renamed Sovetskoye in honor of the Soviet Union. The town is home to a number of historical sites, including the Church of the Holy Trinity and the Monument to the Fallen Soldiers.
