Soure has a rich history and heritage, dating back to the Roman era. The town was first mentioned in a document from 1095, and it was granted a charter by King Manuel I in 1514. Soure is home to several historical monuments, including the Church of São Pedro, the Convent of São Francisco, and the Castle of Soure.
