Maagnas, also known as Maañgas, is a municipality in the province of Sorsogon, Bicol Region, Philippines. Located at 13.7192°N, 123.6675°E, it is situated in the southeastern part of the province, bordered by the municipalities of Prieto Diaz to the north, Juban to the east, and Bulusan to the west. The municipality has a tropical climate, with an average annual temperature of 27°C. Maagnas has a rich history and heritage, dating back to the pre-colonial era when it was part of the Kingdom of Sorsogon. The town was founded in 1610 by Spanish missionaries, and its name is derived from the Bicolano word "maagas," which means "early morning."
