Mier, also known as Ciudad Mier, is a city in Tamaulipas, Mexico, located at the confluence of the Rio Grande and Mier rivers, approximately 100 miles southwest of Laredo, Texas. The city experiences a subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild, dry winters. Mier has a rich history, having been founded in 1753 as a Spanish mission and later serving as a battleground during the Mexican-American War. It is known for its well-preserved colonial architecture, including the Mission San Juan Bautista and the Fort of Mier, which are both designated as National Historical Monuments.
