Bhamo, also known as Banmaw or Hsinkai, is a town located in the Kachin State of Myanmar, at the confluence of the Irrawaddy and Taping rivers. The town has a humid subtropical climate with hot, wet summers and mild, dry winters. Bhamo has a rich history, having been a major trading center on the ancient Silk Road and a strategic military outpost during the British colonial era. The town is home to a number of historical and cultural landmarks, including the Bhamo Palace, the Shwegu Gyi Pagoda, and the Bhamo Museum.
