Viesīte is a town in Jēkabpils Municipality in the historical region of Selonia in Latvia, located on the banks of the Viesīte River, approximately 130 km southeast of Riga. The town's history dates back to the 13th century when it was mentioned in the Chronicle of Henry of Livonia as the site of a battle between the Livonian Brothers of the Sword and the Selonians. Viesīte received town rights in 1928 and is known for its beautiful wooden architecture, including the Viesīte Evangelical Lutheran Church, built in 1894.
