Somaglia is a town in the province of Lodi, Lombardy, Italy. It is located in the Po Valley, about 25 kilometers southeast of Milan. The town has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and cool, damp winters. Somaglia was first mentioned in a document from 1027. It was a fief of the Bishop of Lodi until the 12th century, when it became a free commune. In the 14th century, it was conquered by the Visconti family of Milan. Somaglia remained under Milanese rule until the 18th century, when it became part of the Kingdom of Sardinia. In 1861, it became part of the Kingdom of Italy.
