The town is situated on the banks of the Adda River, about 10 kilometers southeast of Cremona. The climate of Pizzighettone is humid subtropical, with hot summers and cold winters. The town has a long history, dating back to the Roman era. It was later ruled by the Lombards, the Franks, and the Spanish. In 1525, Pizzighettone was besieged by the French, who eventually captured the town. The town's heritage is reflected in its architecture, which includes a number of medieval and Renaissance buildings.
