Szécsény, also known as Szecheny, is a town in Nógrád County, Hungary, located in the Cserhát Mountains, 80 km northeast of Budapest. The town has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Szécsény was first mentioned in 1219 and was an important center of trade in the Middle Ages. It is home to several historical landmarks, including the Roman Catholic church, built in the 14th century, and the ruins of Szécsény Castle, built in the 13th century.
