Luba, officially Ciudad de Luba, is a city in Bioko Sur Province, Equatorial Guinea. It is located on the island of Bioko, off the coast of mainland Equatorial Guinea. The city has a tropical rainforest climate with average temperatures ranging from 25 to 30 degrees Celsius throughout the year. Luba was founded in the 18th century by the Spanish as a port and trading center. It became the capital of the Spanish colony of Fernando Po in the 19th century and remained so until the country's independence in 1968. The city is home to a number of historical sites, including the ruins of the Spanish fort of San Carlos, which was built in the 18th century.
