Hénin-Beaumont, formerly known as Henin-Lietard, is a city in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region of France, located approximately 18 kilometers southeast of Lille. The city has a humid continental climate, with warm summers and cool winters. Its history dates back to the 12th century, when it was part of the County of Flanders. It became part of France in 1659 and has been a major coal mining center since the 19th century.
