Libourne, also known as Liborna, is a commune in the Gironde department in the Aquitaine region of southwestern France. It is located on the Dordogne River, about 20 kilometers northeast of Bordeaux. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm summers. Libourne has a rich history, dating back to the Roman era. It was a major port in the Middle Ages and was fortified by the English in the 14th century. The town has a number of historic buildings, including the 12th-century Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church and the 14th-century Château de Libourne.
