Deltebre, Catalonia, Spain is a municipality located in the comarca of Baix Ebre, in the province of Tarragona. The municipality covers an area of 108.2 km² and has a population of 11,705 (2020). The town is situated on the left bank of the Ebro River, at the point where the river enters the Mediterranean Sea. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters. The average temperature is 15.5 °C and the average annual rainfall is 450 mm. The history of Deltebre dates back to the 18th century, when it was founded as a fishing village. The town grew rapidly in the 19th century, thanks to the construction of the Ebro Delta Canal. The canal brought water to the delta, which made it possible to cultivate rice and other crops. Deltebre is today a major rice-growing center. The town is also a popular tourist destination, thanks to its beautiful beaches and its proximity to the Ebro Delta Natural Park.
