Becerreá, Galicia, Spain, is a municipality located in the southern part of the province of Lugo, in the autonomous community of Galicia, in northwestern Spain. The municipality has a population of 3,128 (2020) and covers an area of 172.2 km2. The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 10°C to 20°C throughout the year. The town is known for its rich history and heritage, with evidence of human settlement dating back to the Bronze Age. The town was founded in the 10th century by King Ordoño II of León, and was granted a royal charter in 1228 by King Alfonso IX of León. The town's historic center is home to a number of notable buildings, including the Church of Santa María la Mayor, which dates back to the 12th century, and the Casa do Concello, which was built in the 18th century.
