Castro Caldelas, also known as Castro Caldelas, is a municipality in the province of Ourense, Galicia, Spain. It is located at an altitude of 347 meters and has a population of 1,325 inhabitants. The climate is temperate, with an average annual temperature of 13.5 °C and an average annual rainfall of 1,000 mm. The history of Castro Caldelas dates back to the Roman Empire, when it was known as Castrum Caldelae. The town was later conquered by the Moors and then by the Christians. In the 15th century, Castro Caldelas was granted a charter by King John II of Castile. The town's heritage includes the Castle of Castro Caldelas, the Church of Santa María, and the Monastery of San Paio de Abeleda.
