Padrón is a municipality in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, Spain. It is located in the comarca of Sar, on the left bank of the river Sar, 18 km from Santiago de Compostela. The municipality has a population of 8,944 (2019) and an area of 48.38 km². The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 10°C in January to 25°C in August. Padrón has a long history, dating back to the Roman era. It was an important stop on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, and was granted a charter by King Alfonso IX of León in 1223. The town's heritage includes the Church of Santiago, which was built in the 12th century, and the Casa de la Parra, which was built in the 16th century.
