Somozas, also known as Santiago Seré or Santiago Sere, is a municipality in the province of A Coruña, in the autonomous community of Galicia, Spain. It is located in the north of the province, at an altitude of 433 meters above sea level and has a population of 1,152 inhabitants (2020). The climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm summers. The average annual temperature is 13.6 °C and the average annual rainfall is 1,182 mm. Somozas has a rich history, dating back to the Roman era. The municipality was part of the Kingdom of Galicia from the 9th century until the 15th century, when it became part of the Kingdom of Spain. Somozas has a rich cultural heritage, including several churches, chapels, and monasteries. The municipality is also home to the Somozas Castle, which was built in the 14th century.
