Barxeta was founded by the Moors in the 10th century. It was conquered by the Christians in the 13th century and became part of the Kingdom of Valencia. The municipality has a rich historical and cultural heritage, including the Church of San Pedro, the Hermitage of San Antonio, and the Palace of the Counts of Almodóvar.
