Barxeta, also known as Barcheta, is a municipality in the province of Valencia, Spain. It is located at an altitude of 31 meters (102 feet) and covers an area of 2.6 square kilometers (1.0 square miles). The municipality has a population of 1,669 (2020). The weather in Barxeta is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The average temperature is 17.5 °C (63.5 °F) and the average annual rainfall is 400 mm (16 in). Barxeta was founded by the Moors in the 10th century. It was conquered by the Christians in the 13th century and became part of the Kingdom of Valencia. The municipality has a rich historical and cultural heritage, including the Church of San Pedro, the Hermitage of San Antonio, and the Palace of the Counts of Almodóvar.
