Benediktbeuern, Bavaria, Germany, also known as Benedict Beyrn, is a town located at the foot of the Bavarian Alps, approximately 60 kilometers south of Munich. The town has a humid continental climate, with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. Benediktbeuern was founded in the 8th century as a Benedictine monastery, and its history and heritage are closely intertwined with the monastery's development. The monastery was a major center of learning and culture in the Middle Ages, and its library contains a vast collection of medieval manuscripts. The town is also home to a number of other historic buildings, including the Baroque Pfarrkirche St. Benedikt and the Asamkirche, a Rococo pilgrimage church.
