Burgbrohl is a municipality in the district of Ahrweiler in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located in the Brohltal valley, on the river Brohl, about 10 km southwest of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. The municipality has a population of around 3,200 and an area of 10.5 km². The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 8°C in January to 18°C in July. Burgbrohl was first mentioned in a document in 1147. The town was granted market rights in 1338 and town rights in 1346. Burgbrohl was part of the Electorate of Cologne until 1794, when it was occupied by French revolutionary forces. The town was part of the French département of Rhin-et-Moselle until 1814, when it was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Burgbrohl was part of the Prussian province of the Rhineland until 1946, when it became part of the newly founded state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The town's heritage includes the ruins of Burgbrohl Castle, which was built in the 12th century.
