It is located at an altitude of 420 meters above sea level, in the Hunsrück mountains, approximately 10 kilometers southwest of Simmern. The municipality has a population of approximately 600 people. The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from -1°C in January to 18°C in July. Dommershausen was first mentioned in a document from 1136. The municipality is home to a number of historical buildings, including the 12th-century Romanesque church of St. Martin.
