Hallungen is a municipality in the district of Kyffhäuserkreis, in Thuringia, Germany. It is located at an elevation of 250 meters and has a population of around 1,000 people. The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 0°C in January to 20°C in July. Hallungen has a long history, dating back to the 12th century. The town was once part of the Holy Roman Empire and was later ruled by the Counts of Schwarzburg. In 1949, Hallungen became part of the German Democratic Republic, and after reunification in 1990, it became part of the state of Thuringia.
