Hepberg is a municipality in the district of Eichstätt in Bavaria, Germany. It is located in the Altmühl Valley Nature Park, on the southern edge of the Franconian Jura, approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) west of Eichstätt. The municipality has a population of around 2,500 inhabitants and covers an area of 15.6 square kilometers (6.0 square miles). The municipality was first mentioned in 1007 as "Hepburc" and was granted market rights in 1455. The municipality is known for its well-preserved medieval town center and its numerous historical buildings, including the Hepberg Castle, which was built in the 12th century. The municipality is also known for its natural beauty, with its rolling hills, forests, and meadows.
