Hoym is a town in the district of Salzlandkreis, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, with a population of 2,632 (2015). It is located on the river Bode, about 15 km (9 mi) north of Quedlinburg and 25 km (16 mi) south of Magdeburg. The town has a temperate climate, with average temperatures ranging from 3 °C (37 °F) in January to 18 °C (64 °F) in July. Hoym was first mentioned in a document in 936, and it received town privileges in 1221. The town was once part of the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg, and it was later acquired by the Kingdom of Prussia. Hoym is home to several historical buildings, including the 13th-century St. Stephen's Church and the 16th-century Hoym Castle.
