Lieg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Lieg is a municipality in the Rhein-Lahn-Kreis district of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated in the central part of the state, at the northern edge of the Taunus mountain range, approximately 10 kilometers north of the city of Limburg an der Lahn. The municipality has a population of around 3,000 inhabitants. The climate in Lieg is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 0°C in January to 20°C in July. The municipality has a long and rich history, dating back to the Middle Ages. The first documented mention of Lieg dates back to 1256. The municipality was part of the Electorate of Trier until 1803, when it was annexed by the Duchy of Nassau. In 1866, the Duchy of Nassau was annexed by the Kingdom of Prussia. After the Second World War, Lieg became part of the newly founded state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
