Owingen is a municipality in the district of Bodensee, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located at an elevation of 562 meters (1,844 feet) above sea level, and has a population of around 4,400 people. The municipality is situated in the foothills of the Alps, and is surrounded by forests and vineyards. Owingen has a long and rich history, dating back to the Middle Ages. The municipality was first mentioned in a document in 1094, and was granted town rights in 1275. Owingen was a free imperial city from 1311 to 1803, and was then annexed by the Kingdom of Württemberg. The municipality has a number of historical landmarks, including the St. Martin's Church, which was built in the 13th century, and the Town Hall, which was built in the 16th century.
