Schwaig, Bavaria, Germany, is a municipality in the district of Nürnberger Land, in the administrative region of Middle Franconia, located approximately 10 km (6 mi) east of Nuremberg. The municipality has a population of approximately 8,500 and covers an area of 19.24 km2 (7.43 sq mi). Schwaig has a humid continental climate, with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. The municipality was first mentioned in 1059 and was granted market rights in 1398. Schwaig is home to several historical landmarks, including the St. Peter and Paul Church, which was built in the 14th century, and the Schwaig Castle, which was built in the 16th century.
