Sanyang is a town in Yongxiu County, Jiangxi Province, China. It is located in the northeast of Jiangxi Province, at the junction of the Yangtze River and the Ganjiang River. The town has a subtropical monsoon climate, with an average annual temperature of 17.5 °C (63.5 °F) and an average annual precipitation of 1,450 mm (57 in). Sanyang has a long history, dating back to the Qin dynasty (221-206 BC). It was an important military town during the Three Kingdoms period (220-280 AD). In the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), Sanyang was a prosperous commercial town. Today, Sanyang is a major transportation hub and a center of commerce and industry.
