Zhaoyang, also known as Shaoyang, is a county in the central part of Shanxi Province, China. It is located at 37.9080100 latitude and 113.1504400 longitude, in the eastern foothills of the Taihang Mountains. The county has a temperate climate, with average temperatures ranging from -3.2°C in January to 24.4°C in July. Zhaoyang has a rich history, dating back to the Neolithic period. It was first established as a county in the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - 25 AD). The county is home to a number of historical and cultural sites, including the Zhaoyang Grottoes, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
