Buxoro is a city in Uzbekistan, located in the Bukhara Region, 420 km (260 mi) southwest of Tashkent, near the Kyzylkum Desert. The average temperature in January is -0.9 °C (30.4 °F) and in July is 26.2 °C (79.2 °F). Buxoro has a rich history and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was once a major center of Islamic culture and learning and is home to many mosques, madrassas, and mausoleums.
