Richland, Washington, also known as Richlend, is located in the southeastern part of the state, along the Columbia River. The city has a temperate climate with warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters. Richland was founded in 1905 as a planned community to support the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, which is located nearby. The city has a rich history and heritage, and is home to a number of cultural and historical attractions, including the Columbia River Exhibition of History, Science and Technology, the Hanford Reach Interpretive Center, and the Richland Public Library.
