The town was founded in 1876 by a group of farmers and ranchers, and its name means "the mills" in Spanish. Los Molinos is home to a number of historic buildings, including the Tehama County Courthouse and the Red Bluff Diversion Dam. The town is also known for its agriculture, and is a major producer of rice, almonds, and olives.
