Spring Valley, Nevada, is a city located in Clark County, approximately 12 miles southwest of downtown Las Vegas. The city has a desert climate with hot summers and mild winters, with average temperatures ranging from 40°F to 105°F. Spring Valley was originally inhabited by the Paiute Native Americans, and was later settled by European-American pioneers in the mid-19th century. The city was incorporated in 1981 and has since grown to a population of over 178,000 residents.
